Will a powerful weapon fall into the hands of Ukrainians? “This could result in a global conflict”

— This will definitely hurt Putin. However, we must remember that this is an element of negotiations. According to American media, Trump had three proposed sanctions on the table with varying degrees of severity, and he chose relatively weak ones – comments Col. Andrzej Derlatka in an interview with Onet.
— On the other hand, there is a bill in Congress by Senator Graham that would actually result in a complete blockade of Russia. So this arsenal of means of influence is quite large and we can expect various actions. Especially since Russia's position is still clear: we will not give in, he adds.

— Trump still hopes that he will be able to reach an agreement with Putin because he is concerned about the possible escalation of the conflict and the possibility of the outbreak of World War III. Hence the balancing act and moving forward in our actions in such a way as not to provoke Russia to escalate and use more severe types of weapons, he points out.
“A Dangerous Game”
— In this context, it is worth mentioning the Tomahawk case, because it is an extremely significant and characteristic issue. First, there was an announcement to transfer this powerful weapon to Ukrainians, but after a direct telephone conversation with Putin, Trump withdrew from it because he believed that it could pose a real threat of a global conflict. And such a risk actually exists, argues the former head of the Foreign Intelligence Agency.
— We tend to forget about it because the war in Ukraine has been going on for several years. But we must be aware of how dangerous this game is. Especially since Russian propaganda shows that this is not a war with Ukraine, but with the entire NATO, he explains.
According to the colonel People's opinions that as a result of the war the Russian economy is at the breaking point are pipe dreams.
— We would like it to be so, but this is wishful thinking. The Russians have been preparing for this game for many years, and they also have support from China, which has full stockpiles of weapons and can supply whatever its heart desires, he explains.
— Of course, this support has its price, and that price is Russia's further dependence on China. Seen from this perspective, Putin finds himself between a rock and a hard place. Nevertheless, rumors about Russia's death are greatly exaggerated, he emphasizes.

“This is the only way to have a truce”
Col. Derlatka's greatest hopes for ending the war lie with Ukraine, which – in his opinion – is coping better and better in this conflict.
— The main actor, Ukraine, is achieving spectacular successes. This is a well-thought-out strategy to destroy the Russian economy with targeted strikes. Recently, the Ukrainians even attacked facilities in Chelyabinsk, which are located beyond the Urals. An incredible feat by the Ukrainian army, says the expert.
— We no longer have the same situation as years ago, when Kiev received weapons in the form of a small drip. Now 40 percent offensive weapons are made in Ukraine. In addition, major European companies are involved in joint production, i.e. providing technology to Ukraine, he adds.
— In a relatively short period of time, this may produce positive effects in the form that Ukraine will have better, more modern and more effective weapons that will allow it to destroy Russia's economic base. In my opinion, this is currently one way to achieve a truce, he concludes.
