Retings in France support the journalists killed in Gaza: there were “never so many victims in our profession”

Hundreds of people showed on Wednesday in France, in Paris and Marseille (South), at the call of organizations of journalists who want to express solidarity with their colleagues killed in Gaza, AFP journalists found.

About 200 journalists stretched symbolically on the steps of the Bastille Opera in Paris, while the victims' names were read, Agerpres notes, citing AFP. So many journalists were killed in Gaza from the beginning of the war, in October 2023.

The leader of a Palestinian journalists' union in Europe, Youssef Habash, denounced a “genocide” and asked for the blockade of Gaza.

In an article published Monday by Le Monde, several organizations and unions of journalists – SNJ, CGT and CFDT, RSF, FIJ and about forty companies of journalists or editors, including AFP – denounced “A massacre of an unmoved magnitude.”
“The Israeli army tries to impose a media black-out in Gaza, to silence, as far as possible, the witnesses of the war crimes committed by his troops.”they accused the unions.
The war in Gaza was triggered by the unprecedented attack launched on October 7, 2023 by the Palestinian Islamist Movement in the south of Israel.
