Patient escaped from the stretcher at the Ploiesti Hospital. He underwent emergency surgery after suffering a head injury. The police opened a criminal case

An 85-year-old man underwent surgery after being dropped from a stretcher by an employee of a private ambulance, in the courtyard of the Ploiesti County Hospital, while the transfer of the elderly man to another hospital was being attempted. The police announce that, following the incident, they have opened a criminal case.

According to the data provided by Prahova Police officials, the incident took place on October 22, News.ro reports.

“From the preliminary checks carried out on the spot, it emerged that an 85-year-old patient would have fallen from the transport stretcher, while it was being handled by a man, on the access ramp of the medical unit. As a result of the incident, the patient suffered bodily injuries, being hospitalized for the provision of specialized medical care. In the case, the police are continuing the investigations under the aspect of committing crimes bodily injury due to fault and negligence in the service”, said Police officials.

The incident occurred in the courtyard of the Ploiesti County Emergency Hospital, while the patient was being transferred from this hospital to another medical unit. The old man was admitted to the County Hospital, in the neurosurgery department, where he was operated on, being admitted to the intensive care unit.
