The Supreme Audit Office negatively assesses the activities of the Institute of National Remembrance – Commission for the Prosecution of Crimes against the Polish Nation in the field of property management and disposal of public funds. The method of managing these funds in the years 2022-2025 (Q1) did not ensure economical and effective spending of PLN 47.6 million, i.e. almost half of the PLN 107 million of expenses covered by the study, states NIK.

The activities of the Institute of National Remembrance are financed from the state budget and involve the ownership of the property of the State Treasury. Its management, as an essential element of the implementation of tasks and assumed goals, should be carried out with particular care, it was emphasized in the announcement.

In its report, the Supreme Audit Office indicated, among others:

  • unlawful changes to the organizational structure of the Institute of National Remembrance;
  • prohibited division of public procurement;
  • uneconomical leasing of premises;
  • questioned the expenses for the IPN facility abroad – although it was not built, it cost almost PLN 400,000. zloty.

NIK also examined the prevailing expenditure on educational activities, e.g. continuing the ineffective and pointless promotion of “Gry Szyfrów”.

Only one of the important issues covered by the audit was assessed positively in the report, i.e. granting and settling subsidies.
