Ryszard Petru, who was the leader of Nowoczesna in the past, announced that he would started meetings with local party structures throughout the country. The official collection of signatures of support for the candidates for the President of Poland 2050 began on Monday, a Registration of candidates will be possible from December 9. According to Ryszard Petru, Poland 2050 is currently going through a difficult moment, which is reflected in the results of recent surveys. As he noticed, part of the group's electorate switched to other parties, including Confederation, or resigned from participating in the elections.

“I believe that by returning to the roots, we can again receive support of 7-10 percent. to start and that is enoughso that, firstly, it gives us the prospect of running as an individual group in the 2027 elections, and secondly, it gives the entire coalition the prospect of continuing to rule,” he said.

According to Ryszard Petru, smaller parties, such as Polska 2050, must stand out from other parties. In his opinion, the key is to have a clear program that will focus on the economy, energy transformation and social support.

“I am able to lead this party to victory in the elections. I am convinced that clarity, a clear program, focus on economic issues, a wise energy transformation and targeted social assistance are what Poles expect from us,” he said.

Ryszard Petru also referred to the potential rivalry with Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz, deputy head of Poland 2050 and minister of funds and regional policy. He noted that their approach to the economy differs – while Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz represents more left-wing views, Ryszard Petru describes his approach as libertarian.
“I immodestly believe that I could regain part of the electorate that drifted away to the Confederation,” he added.
Leader and founder of Poland 2050, Szymon Hołownia announced in September that he would not run for re-election as party chairman. He also announced that he intended to run for the position of UN High Commissioner for Refugees.
