Had they prevailed against Dallas, the Whitecaps would have finished the MLS regular season in first place in the Western Conference standings, which would have represented a first for the Canadian club.
Muller's goal was not enough and the Vancouver Whitecaps missed the chance for a historic result!
The decisive moment of the meeting at BC Place Stadium took place right at the start of the game, precisely in the 11th minute, when Uruguayan Mathias Laborda was sent off for a foul that stopped an important scoring chance for the visitors.
Of course Dallas took advantage, opening the scoring seven minutes later through Osaze Urhoghide.
However, veteran Thomas Muller restored parity in the 28th minute from the penalty spot, keeping the Canadians' chances of a historic victory alive.
But it all ended for the Whitecaps at the start of the second act, when the Brazilian Kaick put the Dallas team back in front, setting the final score of the game (2-1 for the visitors).
Following this result, the Vancouver Whitecaps ended the MLS regular season in second place in the Western Conference standings. Thus, the Canadian club missed the opportunity to directly qualify for the playoff semifinals to win the championship.
Therefore, Muller and his teammates will have to go through all the phases of that playoff to win the title. The first opponent of the Canadians will be… also FC Dallas, the two clubs will meet in the quarter-finals of the competition, where they will play on the “best of three” system – (no – the team that wins twice will advance to the semi-finals).
Enes Sali did not make an appearance for FC Dallas after leaving Farul
The Romanian footballer with Canadian origins was transferred by FC Dallas from Farul Constanța in the summer of 2024, in exchange for 3 million euros, but the 19-year-old did not play at all for the US club.
He was loaned twice to North Texas SC, a team in the third tier of American football, respectively to Al-Riyadh, in Saudi Arabia.
Since the end of July of this year, Sali has returned to Dallas, where he is still waiting to make his debut for the lineup prepared by Eric Quill.
