Dinamo fans shouted Mircea Lucescu's name for the last time » Heartbreaking images of Răzvan Lucescu

“Il Luce” was not forgotten by the Dynamo players. In the stands of the stadium, a banner appeared from the gallery of Dinamo, the club where Mircea Lucescu wrote history: “Il Luce, symbol of respect and a brilliant mind, mentor and benchmark for future generations”.

The supporters started to shout Mircea Lucescu's name, then: “We will always love you!.” The people in line stopped and applauded.

Răzvan Lucescu, the son of the late coach, could no longer control his emotions and burst into tears.

Before Dynamo, Rapid's fans said goodbye to Mircea Lucescu, choosing to shout his name outside the stadium. After the Dynamo players, it was the turn of the FCSB fans to pay “Il Luce” a final tribute.

Present today at the National Arena, the head of “Internel”, Cătălin Predoiu, announced the initiation of legal proceedings for the future Dinamo stadium to bear the name of the legendary coach, as a sign of gratitude for the contribution made over time to Dinamo and to Romanian football as a whole.

“The great Mircea Lucescu revolutionized Romanian football and became a national value recognized throughout the world. As a sign of respect for these wonderful things he brought to Romanian football, we decided to initiate legal procedures to name the future stadium “Dinamo – Mircea Lucescu”, Predoiu pointed out on Thursday.

Mircea Lucescu, unparalleled career in football

  • Mircea Lucescu took his first steps in football at Dinamo Bucharest, the team with which he has spent most of his career. He also performed at Știința Bucharest and Corvinul Hunedoara.

  • As a player, he won 7 championship titles and a Romanian Cup, all with Dinamo.

  • Throughout his coaching career, he trained Corvinul, the Romanian national team, Dinamo, Pisa, Brescia, Reggiana, Rapid, Inter, Galatasaray, Beşiktaş, Shakhtior, Zenit, the Turkish national team and Dinamo Kiev.

  • He won 36 trophies in his career as a technician: 9 times the championship of Ukraine, 8 times the Ukrainian Cup, 7 times the Ukrainian Supercup, 3 times the Romanian Cup, 2 times the Romanian championship, 2 times the Turkish championship, as well as the UEFA Cup, the European Super Cup, the Russian Super Cup and the Anglo-Italian Cup.
