Armed Hamas units carried out an attack on Israeli forces in Rafah, in the south of the Gaza Strip. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) responded with airstrikes in the area, The Times of Israel and Reuters reported on Sunday.

The incident – as assessed by the Israeli media – constitutes a violation of the ceasefire agreement by Hamas.
Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gwir appealed to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to resume military operations in the Gaza Strip after Hamas militants carried out an attack on Israeli forces in Rafah. In his opinion, this is a clear violation of the truce by Hamas.
“I call on the Prime Minister to order the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to resume fighting in the Gaza Strip with full force,” said the far-right politician, quoted by Israeli media.
“The false belief that Hamas will change its behavior and even abide by the signed agreement is, unsurprisingly, turning out to be a threat to our security. This Nazi terrorist organization must be completely destroyed and the sooner the better,” he added. (PAP)
