The National Waters (ANAR) National Administration has decided not to extend the rental contracts for the beaches on the coast, which expire in October 2025. In their place, open public auctions will be organized, to which all operators will have “Equal chance” of participation. However, the decision aroused strong reactions.

Following the announcement, the president of the Năvodari Beach Operators Association, Lucian Marcu, said that this is “buried” Mamaia Nord resort.

“We are here for a kind of funeral. We buried the Mamaia Nord resort, a newly created resort, which was created in ten years with efforts, investments, sweat and they came in a proportion of over 90%, if not more, from the beach operators. Auctions.said Lucian Marcu, quoted by News.ro.

He stated that after the demolitions began, “Everything looks as if the storm had passed.”

“Last week's Barbara Storm did not do a disaster that we did. We with our gloves and tears in our eyes had to take our work for ten years.”said Lucian Marcu.

At the same time, he mentioned that, from the surface he rents, an operator uses 60 and that out of the 100 beach sectors in Mamaia, 30 are not renting.

“From that beach, 30% must leave it free, we cannot take money on it, we have to clean what happens on the respective portion. We have to leave a five -meter portion in front of access loungers and then we come to the conclusion that, out of the 100% rented, we use 60%, maybe less, but we pay 100%

(…) In Mamaia there are 100 sectors, 70 awarded, 30 free. We have practically 30%. In Constanta, something less, but overall due to the fact that there are not all the beaches we have a loss at the average price … at this moment, the average price paid per square meter is 15.87 lei. The starting price at this time for contracts, for the specifications, is a maximum of a lion and 64 money, depending on the category of the beach. We are talking about prices ten times higher ”said Lucian Marcu.

For his part, PSD deputy Constanta Daniel Georgescu announced on Wednesday, in a press release, that the project that provides for free beaches, without sunbeds, balds and beachbars was voted by the Parliament, and from next summer 20% of the beaches on the Romanian coast can become public.

“Through these changes we have initiated, the Romanians regain a right: to choose where to do the beach; they will be able to do it for free, with the towel, on the public beaches or, if they want, on the loungers or balls, for a tax. But they will be able, finally, I promised that I will make this project. The rights of the Constans, but also of the tourists who come on vacation on the Romanian coast and I was successful.said Daniel Georgescu, according to News.ro.

According to the adopted project, the mayors can receive, in free use, by government decision, beach sectors that become public beaches, and commercial activities will not be possible on them. The PSD deputy mentioned that these beaches must be maintained, and cultural or sporting events can also take place.

“Each town hall will decide what is efficient and priority for the beach segment that they will receive in free use. It is certain that all these beaches must be maintained, cleaning and services such as showers, exchange cabins, ensuring unrestricted access by arranging access roads for people with disabilities. Specific, however, without being able to concession, rent or rent for economic activities, such as beachbars or rental of sunbeds ”explained the deputy from Constanta.
