Lukashenko said that the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded to “renegades”

“I sometimes think so, if one of you or I were offered this prize, I would definitely refuse it. Because, well, listen, we know from our figures what contribution they made to establishing peace in the world in general. But they did nothing,” Lukashenko said.

According to him, these “figures” are “pushing Belarus towards this so-called war.” What Lukashenko meant is not entirely clear.

The illegitimate president of Belarus also said that he “has nothing against” Venezuelan oppositionist Maria Corina Machado, who received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2025, but “she fought for the destruction of Venezuela.” Lukashenko doubted that this was normal.

“Not awarded the Nobel Prize [президенту США] Donald Trump, taking into account the statements of various Nobel laureates, can also be accepted. They promise that next year he will definitely receive the Nobel Peace Prize (in fact, no one promises this. – “GORDON”). I personally would advise him not to worry too much about the fact that this Nobel Prize was not awarded. Because it probably doesn’t belong there for him to be among these renegades,” he believes.

Lukashenko argues that assessing the actions of the United States and its president in the international arena is more important than assessing the Nobel Committee, which the illegitimate president of Belarus called a “politicized structure.”

Context

Axios wrote that Trump has been “obsessed” with winning the Nobel Peace Prize for years. On September 2, Trump said he was not seeking it. On October 1, the head of the White House repeated this, emphasizing that it would be a “great insult” for the United States if he did not receive it.

Experts polled by Reuters predicted Trump would miss out on the peace prize this year because he destroys the international world order, and is “valued” by the committee that determines the award winners.

On October 10, the Nobel Committee awarded the 2025 Peace Prize to the leader of the Venezuelan democracy movement, Machado, for her “tireless work in promoting the democratic rights of the people of Venezuela and fighting for a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy.”

The White House said that the Nobel Committee was guided by a policy that was “more important than peace.”
