Afghanistan says it stopped as Saudi's Qatar and Arabia request
The exchange of fires ended largely on Sunday morning, Pakistani officials said. But in the Kurram area of Pakistan, the firearms continued intermittently, according to local officials and locals.
The Afghan Ministry of Defense previously stated that his operation had ended at midnight, local time.
Afghanistan said on Sunday that he stopped attacks at the request of Qatar and Saudi Arabia. The two Gulf Arab countries issued statements in which they expressed their concern about clashes.
“There is no threat in any part of the territory of Afghanistan. The Islamic Emirate and the Afghan people will defend their territory and will remain determined and dedicated to this defense,” said the spokesman of the Taliban administration, Zabihullah Mujahid, adding that the struggles continue in some areas.
Islamabad accuses the Taliban administration of shelter militants who attack Pakistan, an accusation that Kabul deny.
The border is closed
The two main border crossing points between Pakistan and Afghanistan, at Torkham and Chaman, were closed on Sunday, local officials said. At least three minor crossing points, at Kharlachi, Angoor Adda and Ghulaam Khan, were also closed, local officials said.
Kabul did not comment on the border closure immediately. Afghanistan, the country without exit to sea, has a border of 2,600 km with Pakistan.
The Pakistani air attacks, officially unconfirmed by Islamabad, on Thursday targeted the leader of the Tehreek-E-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militant group, according to a Pakistani official in the field of security. It is not known if he has survived.
TTP is fighting for the overthrow of the government in Islamabad and replacing it with a strictly Islamic government system. On Sunday, Mujahid denied that TTP fighters would have been permission to operate from the Afghan territory.
