Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski said on Friday that Russia has deliberately waited for the arrival of the bad weather for a wide attack on the Ukraine's energy system, adding that the efficiency of anti-aircraft defense has been reduced by 20-30% by climatic conditions, Reuters reports.

“The main assault took place in four regions. I think the weather has affected our ability to reject the attack by 20-30%,” Zelenski said.

The Russian drones and rockets hit the Ukrainian energy installations last night, causing the public lighting, water supply and electric currents and blocking a subway line that connects the Niprous banks.

The Minister of Energy said that 380,000 customers were still disconnected during the Friday afternoon. “The blow is strong, but it is certainly not fatal,” he said about Russian attacks.

Zelenski said there are 203 energy goals that need to be protected by Russian attacks.

He also said that the Russian forces have launched a new assault near the city of Dobropilia in the east of the Donetk region, where Kiev has reported some success in recent weeks, but have been rejected. “The Russians tried to launch some offensive actions. They wanted to unlock their troops, but they suffered losses and withdrew,” said the leader from Kiev.

Zelenski also said that Ukraine is waiting for clarifications related to the status of 10 anti -aircraft defense systems, promised by the United States.

Magnificent attack on the energy system

Kiev was the target of a large Russian attack on Thursday night through Friday, which caused an interruption of electricity supply in the eastern half of the Ukrainian capital.

Russia has launched over 450 drones overnight and at least 30 missiles, taking on the target “everything that supports a normal life,” Volodimir Zelenski wrote on social networks. He confirmed that a child was killed in Zaporojia, adding that more than 20 people were injured throughout the country.

Problams with electricity supply were reported in Kiev, Donetk, Cernihiv, Cerkasî, Harkov, Sumî, Poltava, Odessa and Dnipro, he added.

Russia bombers Ukrainian cities daily from the beginning of its invasion in February 2022, mainly aiming at energy infrastructure as winter is approaching.

On Wednesday, Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski criticized the multiplication of these attacks against Moscow, which also affects the railway infrastructure and led to calls to evacuate families with children. “The objective of Russia is to resemble chaos, to exert psychological pressure on people,” he said.

Zelenski emphasized “a strong pressure from the Russian attacks” on the Ukrainian gas sector, which could force Kiev to increase imports.

Ukraine also regularly hits Russia, in particular for refineries, which has caused an increase in fuel prices in this country since the summer. Zelenski estimated the “fuel shortage to 20% in the necessary” in Russia.
