“On October 2, the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine began considering the case in relation to 155 business entities – defendants, which are part of the five largest pharmacy groups (networks) in the market for the retail sales of drugs, on the grounds of committing violation of the legislation on the protection of economic competition,” the report said.
The AMCU specified that we are talking about the networks of pharmacies “ANC”, “Good Day”, “9-1-1”, “Plantain” and “Bazhamo Health.”
“According to the AMCU, as of July 2025, the five largest pharmacy chains […] controls 64% of retail turnover and owns 42% of all pharmacy points, which in total is 7742 outlets. […] These pharmacy groups have signs of market power and the ability to significantly influence the conditions of the turnover of goods in the market, ”the committee noted.
Its release notes that since February 2025, there are trends to reduce sales volumes at points of implementation of the mentioned pharmacy networks that produce three domestic manufacturers – “by limiting their presence at points of sale.”
“At the same time, the demand for the analyzed drugs of three domestic manufacturers during the study period was relatively stable and did not have a tendency to significant reduction. At the same time, a decrease in consumption by the population of these drugs was associated with an artificial decrease in their presence in network pharmacies,” the AMCU explained.
The department did not specify which domestic manufacturers of drugs are talking about.
