“This fight will end in court, but public opinion cannot remain silent in the face of such reckless and authoritarian proceedings of the US president,” warned the governor.
The court in Oregon temporarily prevented the federal administration to send to Portland, the largest city in the state, the State Guard, so Trump decided to send a national guard from California there, a federalized a few months earlier, during riots in Los Angeles – he informed the news.
Trump announces sending troops to subsequent states or cities
At the end of September, Trump announced that he would send the army to Portland. On his platform, Truth Social wrote that the city is “devastated by war” and soldiers will also protect migration services (ICE) from the attacks of “national terrorist organizations”, such as Antifa. He emphasized that he allows the use of “full force, if necessary.”
Oregon Governor Tina Kotek said that Portland does not need national guard soldiers to protect the objects of immigration and customs service (ICE). She informed that she had contacted Gavin Newsom and Governor Illinois JB Pritzker to discuss their reaction to the pressure of the White House regarding the distribution of soldiers in their states without notice.
On Saturday, Trump allowed 300 members of the Illinois National Guard to Chicago. The American president has already sent or announced that he would send a national guard to 10 cities.
New defense strategy of the USA
The Politico portal, citing anonymous sources, said at the beginning of September that the initial version of the National Defense Strategy sets missions in the US itself above strategies aimed at China and Russia.
Politico estimates that the guidelines included in the Pentagon plans are already being implemented, as exemplified by the sending of thousands of national soldiers of the National Guard to Los Angeles (after protests against actions aimed at illegal immigrants) and to Washington (as Trump announced, to fight crime).
