There is not enough evidence to prosecute Andrew Tate in case of accusations of sexual violence made by four women, the Crown Prosecutor's Office (CPS) in the UK announced on Monday, according to The Guardian, quoted by News.ro.
The four women who sued Andrew Tate in a civil lawsuit at the High Court in London accused him of sexual violence, including the fact that he tightened one of them throat in 2015, whipped her with a belt and straightened a gun. The accusations were denied by the lawyers of the influencer in a previous hearing.
The prosecutor's office made a new analysis of the file regarding the charges of aggression and rape between 2013 and 2015, a CPS spokesman announced. “After a careful analysis of the evidence provided by the Hertfordshire Police, we have come to the conclusion that the legal conditions for criminal prosecution are not met and that no additional actions should be taken,” he said.
CPS said that all parties were informed about the decision and that it was offered to meet the applicants “to explain their reasoning more in detail.”
Tate's lawyer in the UK, Andrew Ford, greeted the decision.
“Despite the external pressures, the evidence speaks for themselves in this case, and the crown prosecutor's office has rightly confirmed that the evidence is insufficient to provide a realistic perspective for a conviction. The reason why CPS has become obvious when the evidence will be presented in the civil procedure. abandoned, ”the lawyer said.
The women filed a civil trial against Tate at the High Court after the Crown Prosecutor's office initially decided not to prosecute him in 2019. Three of them denounced Tate at the Hertfordshire Police, whose investigation was closed in the same year.
Andrew Tate denied the accusations, which include sexual violence, coercive control and aggression and bodily injury, describing them as “a series of lies” and “coarse manufactures”.
