Prime Minister Ilie Bololan told Digi24 on Monday that he believes that “finding a solution through a consensus is the best formula” to establish the date of elections for the City Hall of Bucharest, even if “the Government could come to force a decision” in this regard.

The prime minister said that the elections for the Capital City Hall “could be in the next period, perhaps by the end of November, or could be postponed in the spring.”

“Here are some points of view inside the coalition. Of course, the government could come to force, say, adopting a government decision to establish this date, but I think that finding a solution through a consensus is the best formula in such a way that we can have elections in Bucharest,” added Ilie Bolojan.

He explained that “a mayor who is chosen has a much greater authority than an interim mayor.”

“The faster this would happen, the longer the one who is chosen has a longer period of time to perform in the Capital, at the City Hall,” continued the Liberal.

Bolojan said that, in his opinion, “the faster, the better.”

“This is also about the spirit of the law, which gives a certain term, on the one hand, but it is also a practical reality. The long -term provisionals do not ensure performance, this is the reality. It is not the general town hall, it is valid everywhere,” concluded Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan.
