Swedish Prime Minister ULF Krisisterson commented on recent incidents in Denmark and Norway. Several airports have been closed since September 22, after they were overcome by drones.
The probability that Russia “wants to send a message to the countries supporting Ukraine is quite big”, but “no one knows it really,” ULF KrisSersson told TV4, according to AFP, quoted by News.ro. “We have the confirmation” of the fact that the drones that entered the Polish airspace, at the beginning of September, were Russian, he added.
In Denmark and Norway “everything indicates (Russia), but all countries are prudent then it is about showing a country, if not safe. In Poland, we know that this is,” added ULF KrisSersson.
Copenhagen Airport, the busiest in the northern region, was closed for several hours on Monday evening, after several large drones were observed in its airspace. Five smaller airports, both civil and military, were also temporarily closed in the coming days.
Subsequently, other drones were seen above some military goals in Denmark during Saturday night. The authorities in Norway also investigate a possible appearance of drones above military installations.
Copenhagen is about to host a summit of the European Union (EU) Wednesday and Thursday. In order to ensure the security of the summit, Denmark announced that it closes the air space to all civilian drones until Friday.
