Today, at the age of 30, I am in a moment of my career where I have to make difficult choices. I play in China, and the distances are huge. Long roads and short time make the constant presence extremely difficult on the national team.
In addition, I know that I only have a few years of high level career and I feel the need to straighten all my energy to my future and my family.
It is a decision made with my soul tight, but with the conviction that it is the best for me and my family at this time of my life. Therefore, please respect my decision without creating speculation around it without truth. I would not do well to me, nor the national team, which needs peace and total support to achieve its goals.
I want to thank the selections with whom I had the honor to work. Each of them helped me grow, learn and give the best for Romania's colors. I thank all the people in the staff with whom I collaborated, they were always with me in need.
I thank my colleagues, with whom I shared the locker room, the joys and disappointments, but especially the unique moments that will bind us for life. And above all, thank you, supporters. Without you, football would not have the same beauty. I always felt close to you, whether I played at home, or I was far away, and every encouragement of you meant enormously to me.
