The creation of the Command of the Medical Forces should be assessed as a step in the right direction – says Dr. Beata Zysiak -Christ from the Land Forces Academy Tadeusz Kościuszko. Deputy Prime Minister, head of the Ministry of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz announced on Monday about the appointment of a command of medical army based in Krakow. It was headed by Col. Mariusz Kiszka, currently deputy medical commander of the 4th Military Clinical Hospital in Wrocław. As the minister passed, Kiszka will be responsible for formulating a new military component, formulating strategies and activities for Poland's security, related to cooperation between the civil sector, with the leading role of the military health service.

I think we need all changes, especially now. This also confirms the growing awareness of the importance of systemic medical care in the structures of state defense. This solution also gives you a chance to consolidate certain dispersed competences, it also gives a chance to harmonize certain training standards and better coordination of activities – said Dr. Beata Zysiak -Christ.
When asked about the level of skill in the field of first aid among the Polish Army soldiers, the expert said that this requires further strengthening and systematic development.
– Of course, the growing one should be appreciated – not enough, as if we wanted – awareness of the need for training in this area. However, there are still significant differences between the declared and the actual level of practical preparation, especially in the scope of Tactical Combat Casualty Care (tactical and combat care of the injured party – PAP) – she said.
Knowledge about the modern battlefield is acquired, among others Based on experience from foreign missions, wars in Ukraine. It is no different in the case of medical rescue. According to Zysiak-Christ, especially Three aspects are important: pre -hospital medicine, effective segregation and assessment of the wounded, as well as logistics and medical supplies.
The head of the Ministry of National Defense explained on Monday that the location of the Command of the Medical Forces in Krakow, in the 6th Air-Desant Brigade is not accidental and is associated with the presence of several important units in this city, including special forces along with their command, as well as a huge medical base, which includes, among others 5 Military Clinical Hospital with polyclinic and medical universities.
Kosiniak-Kamysz also announced the creation of a medical legion. He explained that it is an institution similar to the recently created cyberlegion, in which civilian cybersecurity experts are prepared to cooperate with the army and support of the Cyberspace Defense Forces in a crisis situation, but without joining the army.
– We want to encourage the largest as possible group of doctors, nurses, paramedics, all from medical staff to report to the medregion todayto the medical dimension that will group your skills, abilities, but also gives a chance to train in a field in which you may not be specialists, but which is worth knowing – explained the head of the Ministry of National Defense.
According to his announcements, medical staff training, implemented as part of the Medical Legion, will be financed by the state, and in addition all its members will be classified so that their skills are best used if necessary.

The task intended for the implementation by the medical army – as the professor emphasized – should be to secure the operational readiness of the armed forces through the medical support of other types of troops, education and training, creating and transfer of knowledge improving the preparation and survival of a soldier on the battlefield, as well as adaptation of the structure, functions, organization and strength of the military health service to the needs.
