Ukrainian Air Alert App Hacked, Defense Forces Deny Radiation Threat

The Ukrainian Center for Countering Disinformation has confirmed that the Air Alert application has been compromised, leading to false notifications regarding a radiation threat.
Officials emphasized, “There is no radiation threat! Stay calm and follow our updates on our channel!” This statement reassured users following alarming alerts about rocket threats and subsequent warnings of chemical and nuclear dangers in Kyiv.
Ukrainian authorities urge caution with the app.
Earlier, users received a message in Russian claiming, “A nuclear alarm will be announced across Ukraine! Don’t worry, ‘Oreshnik’ is on the way!” This misinformation sparked panic among the public.
In response, the Center for Countering Disinformation urged individuals to refrain from clicking on any suspicious links and not to spread unverified information. They advised people to monitor air raid alerts through official channels and resources.
The Defense Forces reiterated their stance, assuring citizens that the information circulating about threat levels is inaccurate, highlighting the importance of relying on trusted sources for updates.
