Ukrainian Military Faces Challenges as Russian Troop Numbers Dwindle

Ukrainian military expert Bескрестнов has noted that the current conflict is shifting focus from traditional front-line battles to urban warfare. He emphasized that the ability to maintain the front lines relies on adapting to the new dynamics of warfare.
According to Bескрестнов, a critical issue currently facing Ukrainian troops is their failure to meet operational targets due to a lack of Russian forces in certain areas. He stated, “It sounds strange, but our boys are not fulfilling plans because there simply aren’t enough Russians. The war has changed; equipment is becoming less effective and is being destroyed, with the focus now on personnel movements.”
Bескрестнов highlighted that Russian forces are attempting to maneuver on basic vehicles, which makes them more vulnerable. He expressed confidence that Ukrainian troops are effectively locating and neutralizing these targets, suggesting that this trend is unlikely to change.
Furthermore, he pointed out that the main threat now lies in increasing Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities aimed at crippling the national economy. Bескрестнов warned, “If they create a civilian disaster, it will pose significant problems for us. They are targeting bridges and infrastructure to disrupt our economy, reduce job availability, and limit internal funding through taxes and fiscal resources.”
In the broader context, reports indicate that the Kremlin is likely planning two waves of mobilization, aiming to recruit 300,000 personnel into its occupying forces this year and another 300,000 in the next, as stated by Ukrainian intelligence on August 27.
