Russian Hackers Target Ukrainian Government with Phishing Emails

Ukrainian government institutions are currently facing a cyberattack orchestrated by Russian hackers who are distributing phishing emails in the guise of DTEK, a major energy company. According to the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine, victims are receiving emails that allegedly concern “settling debts for electricity.” These messages include a PDF attachment containing a link. Clicking on this link initiates the download of compressed files that, when executed, silently install software on the victim’s computer, granting hackers complete access to the device.
