Ukrainian and Russian Delegations Collaborate on Humanitarian Mission in Oleksky

Ukrainian and Russian delegations meet in Gomel, Belarus

Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets announced the launch of a humanitarian mission aimed at delivering aid to civilians stranded in the city of Oleksky and ensuring their safe evacuation. This mission is being coordinated under agreements established with Yana Lantratova, the Russian Human Rights Commissioner, and with the assistance of U.S. First Lady Melania Trump.

Lubinets emphasized that the primary objective is to provide essential support to those in need. According to Belarus’ state news agency BelTA, on October 29, the Russian delegation arrived in Gomel by plane while the Ukrainian team crossed at the “Nova Huta” checkpoint.

The two delegations held an in-person meeting at the airport, which also included representatives from Belarus, who are reportedly participating in this humanitarian operation.

Following their meeting, both delegations traveled together from Gomel to participate in the humanitarian mission in Oleksky.

  • A temporary ceasefire for the mission began at 3:00 AM on October 27 and is set to last until 10:59 PM on November 1. It covers Oleksky and the routes for humanitarian convoys in the surrounding Kherson region, excluding other frontline areas.
