Trump Predicts Upcoming Meeting Between Putin and Zelenski

On Wednesday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that a meeting is set to occur soon between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenski, as reported by France Presse.
Trump expressed optimism, stating, “A meeting will be organized very soon and I believe we could make significant progress,” while discussing diplomatic efforts to end the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, which has persisted for over four and a half years.
This announcement follows Zelenski’s remarks on Sunday indicating that a Russian-Ukrainian meeting is scheduled for November, mediated by the United States, aimed at reviving peace negotiations, which have been stalled since the beginning of the year.
“We are ready to discuss. If it concerns territorial issues, that must be addressed at the leadership level. Other matters fall under the purview of technical groups. Therefore, all these aspects can be discussed in November,” Zelenski stated in an interview with national television.
Two days prior, Russia had announced plans for such a meeting in November in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, as part of recent U.S. efforts to restart peace talks.
Direct negotiations between Russian and Ukrainian representatives last occurred in 2025, yielding no resolution to the conflict, as both sides remained firm on their conditions.
However, the Kremlin has so far dismissed any possibility of a meeting between Putin and Zelenski taking place outside of Moscow.
Russia continues to reject any ceasefire before a substantive agreement, arguing that a truce would allow Kyiv to rearm.
