Zelensky Confirms November Peace Talks with Russia Mediated by the US

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Sunday evening that a meeting between Ukrainian and Russian representatives is scheduled for November, facilitated by the United States, to revive peace negotiations that have been stagnant since the beginning of the year.
“We are ready to discuss. If it concerns territorial issues, that must be addressed at the leadership level. Other matters pertain to technical groups. Therefore, all these will be discussed in November,” Zelensky stated in an interview with national television.
Russia confirmed on Friday that this meeting will take place in November in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, as part of recent American efforts to rejuvenate peace talks, which have stalled since the onset of the Israeli-American war in Iran.
Direct negotiations between Russian and Ukrainian officials have previously occurred in 2025 but have failed to resolve the conflict, with both sides adhering to their respective conditions.
Non-Negotiable Points
On Sunday, Zelensky reiterated Ukraine’s refusal to compromise on several Russian demands, asserting that the security guarantees Ukraine seeks from its Western allies, the size of its military, and its choice of alliances are “non-negotiable.”
He asserted that the territorial claims made by Moscow against Ukraine can only be addressed at the leadership level, meaning a meeting between himself and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
However, the Kremlin has consistently rejected the idea of such a meeting before a comprehensive peace agreement is signed.
Additionally, the Ukrainian president called for an energy ceasefire, as his country fears, similar to the situation in 2025, a painful campaign of Russian attacks this winter.
Russia dismisses any pause in hostilities prior to a substantive agreement, believing that a ceasefire would allow Kyiv to rearm.
