In a freak show fight gala organized by Prime Show MMA, called “Kolszard Kombat”, people in crisis of homelessness and struggling with other life problems were to fight each other. They appeared at a press conference organized on the Internet at the end of March, which was criticized by Internet users. Therefore, the organizer decided to cancel the tournament, which was to be held on April 25 at the Regional Sports Center in Lubin.

On Thursday, Secretary of State in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, Katarzyna Kotula, informed on website X that after she reported the matter, the prosecutor's office initiated preparatory proceedings.

This means that there is a reasonable suspicion that the organizers have committed a crime. This is good news for justice, but bad news for the organizers who wanted to make money on human misfortune and exploit the weakest, wrote Kotula.

She added that the idea of organizing an event with the participation of people in the homeless crisis is “pure exploitation, not entertainment.”

“That's why I filed a report with the prosecutor's office and today we see the first effects of these actions. I will testify as a witness. To be continued – we will not give up on those who try to make a business out of the difficult life situation of the weakest,” she noted.

At the beginning of April, due to suspected violation of regulations regarding the protection of minors and the ban on disseminating content inciting hatred and violence, explanatory proceedings against Prime Show MMA were initiated by the chairwoman of the National Broadcasting Council, Agnieszka Glapiak.

The head of the National Broadcasting Council then drew attention to, among others: desecration of the national anthem of the Republic of Poland by one of the participants of the broadcast.

– This type of behavior, which undermines the seriousness of the Polish anthem, is absolutely unacceptable and requires a decisive response from state institutions. Due to the situation, I decided to inform the Prosecutor's Office about the possibility of committing a crime of insulting state symbols. The law in this area must be enforced in a firm and consistent manner, emphasized Agnieszka Glapiak in a statement sent to PAP.

Prime MMA is a Polish federation founded in 2021, organizing freak show fight galas. These are fights fought mainly on the principles of MMA (mixed martial arts), during which they fight, among others. celebrities, YouTubers, influencers. The galas it organized were broadcast on commercial channels and could be watched for a fee. Each gala consisted of a dozen or so fights.

On January 8, the chairwoman of the National Broadcasting Council announced the initiation of explanatory proceedings against Prime MMA. The company then adapted the service to the applicable requirements, but the nature and scale of previous violations justified the application of sanctions against the company.

The explanatory proceedings showed that the recordings of the conferences preceding the Prime MMA gala, published on YouTube, contained numerous manifestations of verbal and physical aggression that were not justified by the sports nature of the event.

“Conference participants and people appearing in the materials engaged in vulgar insults, threats, provocations and aggressive behavior, often presented in an approving context. There was an accumulation of words and phrases commonly considered offensive and social justification of vulgarity and social pathologies, including mental and physical violence,” it was explained.

The recordings were publicly available and viewing them did not require logging in or age verification. “Importantly, the content has not been properly classified as intended only for viewers over 18 years of age or marked with a symbol indicating the presence of profanity,” it was noted.

Pursuant to the Broadcasting Act, providers of on-demand audiovisual media services are obliged to appropriately label content and apply effective measures to protect minors against access to materials that may have a negative impact on their development. Due to the nature and scale of the violations, they could not be considered minor. (PAP)
