Nuno Campos Criticizes CFR Cluj’s Defensive Play After Draw

Nuno Campos, the 51-year-old coach of Dinamo, reviewed his team’s performance following a 2-2 draw against CFR Cluj at Gruia, where they had initially trailed by two goals.

As the match entered the 78th minute, CFR Cluj led 2-0, with goals from Cîrjan and Zandbergen occurring in quick succession. Despite the setback, Dinamo managed to level the score, leaving the team with just one loss this season.

In a post-match interview, Campos expressed strong criticism of CFR Cluj’s approach, emphasizing that their primary goal appeared to be defensive. “I am very proud of my team. It’s challenging to play against an opponent that defends with everyone, where there is no space. However, my team has a great spirit. They believed until the last moment, and I think if we had more time, we could have won. The mentality of my players was amazing today,” he stated.

He highlighted that statistics clearly demonstrated Dinamo’s dominance in the match, noting they recorded twice as many shots and more than 600 passes, akin to Barcelona’s style of play. In contrast, he pointed out that CFR Cluj only managed two shots, both resulting in goals.

Campos expressed his pride in his team’s resilience, stating, “We took significant risks with our substitutions, and we did everything we could. We deserve this result, perhaps even more. Only one team tried to score. In a derby, a big team prepared only to defend. They were fortunate to score two goals. I congratulate my players,” he said during the interview with PrimaSport.

With this draw, Dinamo is assured of finishing the round as the leader of the Superliga.
