Good News for Petrolul: Pitch Renovation Completed at Ilie Oană
The renovation works on the pitch at Ilie Oană Stadium have been completed, allowing Petrolul to play their league match against Sepsi at home.
Although Mihai Polițeanu, the city’s mayor, announced on September 25 that playing football at the stadium would be impossible for about six weeks, leading to speculation about a possible relocation, the club has now confirmed that today’s match will indeed be held in Ploiești.
On September 21, immediately after the last official game played at Ilie Oană, against FK Csikszereda, the playing surface underwent extensive rehabilitation. Considerable efforts were made to ensure the pitch would be in good condition, preventing FC Petrolul from having to play its home matches away from Ploiești. Thus, Saturday, at 17:15, we will return to Ilie Oană for the match against OSK Sepsi Sf. Gheorghe, coinciding with the celebration of 60 years since a landmark moment in our club’s history, the victory against Liverpool, with a series of special events scheduled for match day, as per the official statement from Petrolul Ploiești.
