Elias Charalambous Expresses Concern as Levadiakos Struggles with Scoring

Elias Charalambous, the head coach of Levadiakos, expressed deep concern regarding his team’s performance after they failed to score in seven consecutive matches in the Greek Super League and eight across all competitions. The team recently played to a goalless draw against Volos, failing to capitalize on a numerical advantage.

Currently positioned near the bottom of the league table, Levadiakos has encountered a streak of poor results, marked by no goals in their first seven matches. The only team below them is Volos, which has started the season with a point deduction.

Charalambous Addressing the Scoring Drought

Charalambous stated, “We have yet to score, but we are creating chances in every match. However, we are lacking a crucial element in the final third. If we were not creating opportunities, I would identify that as the problem.” He noted that the team had chances before their opponent received a red card, but ultimately, the inability to convert these chances has hindered their performance.

“I am very worried. We are trying to improve our construction and execution. Whether there’s pressure and stress? I do not know. I am not looking for excuses. Let’s find what is wrong. I have no complaints about the players; they are working hard and making an effort, but when you don’t score…” he added, as reported by gazzetta.gr.

Levadiakos’s Season Performance

  • PAOK – Levadiakos 4-0
  • Levadiakos – Panathinaikos 0-2
  • Levadiakos – Panetolikos 0-2
  • Kifisia – Levadiakos 0-0
  • Levadiakos – Olympiakos 0-1
  • Iraklis 1908 – Levadiakos 2-0
  • Levadiakos – Volos 0-0

Additionally, Levadiakos’s campaign in the Greek Cup ended early with a 0-3 defeat to Asteras Tripolis.

Charalambous’s Background and Recent Decisions

In July, Charalambous took over as head coach of Levadiakos after declining an offer to return to FCSB, a club he managed until March, when he resigned following an unsuccessful playoff campaign. During his tenure at FCSB, he won two league titles and two Romanian Supercups and led the team to the Europa League knockout stages.

Alongside Charalambous at Levadiakos is Mihai Pintilii, who returned as an assistant coach after leaving for personal reasons. The team has also signed several players on loan, including Alexandru Pantea from FCSB and Tavi Popescu, amid a controversy over the use of laughing gas. Former FCSB midfielder Adrian Șut also joined Levadiakos on loan from Al-Ain, while Juan Bauza signed despite allegations regarding his contract with FCU Craiova.
