Major Reforms Announced in Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office

Acting Prosecutor General Anton Koval’sky has unveiled significant changes within the Prosecutor General’s Office following an evaluation of its operations. Among the key reforms, eight employees linked to the “Carthage” operation have been dismissed from the prosecutor’s offices. Additionally, 16 prosecutors from regional and district offices have lost their administrative roles as part of the ongoing personnel audit. The leadership of the Kharkiv and Volyn regional prosecutor’s offices has also seen changes, with their administrative positions being eliminated.

Furthermore, Koval’sky announced the disbandment of the Cybercrime Prevention Department and the reorganization of a department tasked with investment protection. The acting prosecutor general indicated that investigations are underway regarding the circumstances surrounding the overseas travel of former prosecutor general Ruslan Kravchenko, as well as the potential misuse of official powers by certain prosecutors for private interests. The personnel audit continues, with upcoming phases focusing on assessing the performance of management, altering management processes, and enhancing internal security within the prosecution service.
