Manuel Akanji Expresses Concern Over Potential Loss of Manchester City Titles

Inter Milan defender Manuel Akanji, 31, has expressed his hope that he will not lose the trophies won during his tenure at Manchester City. Akanji played for the English club from 2022 to 2025, during which he secured two Premier League titles.

Recently, Manchester City was found guilty of breaching financial regulations. Following this, Akanji commented, “I still keep in touch with some of the guys, but I don’t know much more than what you all know. We were told to stay calm as the management is keeping the situation under control and that there’s nothing serious. I trust the leaders at Manchester City and believe that’s how things are. I sincerely hope my titles won’t be revoked. That would be a huge disappointment, but I learn about updates just from the media,” during the Sports Festival in Trento.

Journalists reminded Akanji that his medals are not at risk since the sanctions against Manchester City concern the period from 2009 to 2018, well before he joined the team. In response, he drew an unexpected parallel to the COVID-19 pandemic: “Who knows what else will be uncovered? Even more than five years later, checks related to coronavirus are still underway.”

Alan Brazil Claims Manchester City Faces 60-Point Deduction

Manchester City has appealed and is attempting to demonstrate its innocence, but rumors have circulated in British media that a penalty has already been determined by the Premier League.

On TalkSport, former Scottish international Alan Brazil, 67, who played for teams including Tottenham and Manchester United, claimed he possesses specific insider information regarding the potential sanctions for City. “I’ve heard that Manchester City will face a 60-point deduction, which would satisfy the public and still give the team a chance to avoid relegation,” Brazil revealed.
