Since stepping off the pitch in February due to a serious shoulder injury that ended his career, Kasper Schmeichel has opened up about his new life beyond professional football. The 39-year-old former Danish international discussed his current routine at the European Football Clubs (EFC) gathering.
At the event, Andrei Nicolescu, president of Dinamo, was also present and took a photo alongside UEFA leader Aleksander Ceferin.

“I have three children, and I am practically a full-time Uber driver. It’s a strange transition, and I wasn’t prepared for it. Life puts us in such situations, and I am trying to adapt,” Schmeichel shared, as reported by A Bola.
The former goalkeeper, who celebrated a title with Leicester during the 2015-2016 season, also disclosed his current projects and aspirations to return to the pitch in different capacities.
“I am taking some courses, working in television, and driving the kids around. Eventually, I would like to become a coach or have an even bigger role. My passion is still alive. When I’m on the field, coaching or helping young talents, it brings me immense joy,” he added.

Kasper Schmeichel: A Career in His Father’s Shadow
Kasper is the son of legendary Peter Schmeichel, who won five Premier League titles and a Champions League with Manchester United, as well as the European Championship in 1992 with Denmark.
Beginning his career at Manchester City’s academy, which was the last club his father played for, Kasper made only 10 appearances for the senior team. After several short stints in England’s lower leagues, he joined Leicester City, where he helped the team gain promotion to the Premier League in 2014 and surprisingly win the title two years later.
After leaving Leicester in 2022, Schmeichel played one season with Nice, one with Anderlecht, and two with Celtic.
