During the night from Wednesday to Thursday, the Romanian Ministry of National Defense (MApN) reported that its surveillance system detected a group of drones operating north of Chilia Veche, within Ukrainian territory, close to the border with Romania.
The National Military Command Center informed the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations to implement alert measures for residents in northern Tulcea County. At 4:41 a.m., a RO-Alert message was sent out, as stated by the Ministry of Defense.
In response, two F-18 fighter jets from the Spanish Air and Space Force, part of the Enhanced Air Policing mission, took off from Mihail Kogălniceanu Air Base to monitor the situation.
The air alert was lifted at 5:44 a.m., and MApN confirmed that there were no reports of incursions into national airspace.
