Poland has announced plans for its most extensive aid package for Ukraine to date, emphasizing unwavering support in light of continued Russian aggression. “We are preparing the largest and most comprehensive aid package for Ukraine. We will not be intimidated. The more Russia bombs Ukraine, the greater solidarity we must show toward Ukraine and its people,” stated Polish Minister Radosław Sikorski.
In response to inquiries about Poland’s potential involvement in accelerating the supply of Patriot missile systems to Ukraine, as suggested by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Sikorski indicated that specific military supply questions should be directed to the Ministry of Defense.
Sikorski also expressed that Poland does not expect a change in Russia’s behavior through diplomatic statements alone. He noted that Poland is preparing for further escalation of Russia’s hybrid war, which has already taken on a kinetic character, involving diversions, arson attempts, drone attacks, and airspace violations.
“It is clear that Russia is exacerbating the situation, so we need to prepare ourselves,” Sikorski added.
