Drone strikes recently targeted the military infrastructure in Yaroslavl and Rostov, resulting in extensive fires. Following the attacks, reports indicated that fires continued to burn in these areas.
According to reports, a significant fire erupted at the Yaroslavl oil refinery after the drone attacks. Exilenova+ highlighted a moment of secondary detonation at the site, with videos capturing the sounds of explosions and anti-aircraft operations.
Later statements suggested that both aviation assets and military base infrastructure were affected. The attack was referred to as a “fire show at the Rostov airfield” in a compilation of videos shared online.
Further reports indicated that, due to the night-time strikes, the Yaroslavl refinery area experienced a large-scale fire. One voice in a video commented, “Oh, guys, take a look. The refinery is burning, haha, everything is on fire.”
Russian publication Astra, citing the governors of both regions, confirmed damage to facilities in Rostov and Yaroslavl. The governor of Rostov reported that debris from the drone caused damage to a transformer substation, disrupting power supply across four districts of the city, although he did not mention the airfield specifically. Meanwhile, the governor of Yaroslavl confirmed that the refinery had been targeted.
Astra estimated that the Ukrainian attack likely ignited an area of the “Central” military airfield where aircraft were stationed. Satellite images suggested that military planes and helicopters might have been based there.
