Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko is facing increasing scrutiny regarding the management of 232 billion UAH in contracts awarded since the full-scale war began up to May 2026. Despite extensive expenditures through the Prozorro system, residents have not received a comprehensive public report from the mayor since December 2021.
The funds have reportedly been allocated for various purposes, including shelters, blackouts, restoration of buildings, metro systems, roads, bridges, and transportation infrastructure. However, questions persist about the actual outcomes of these expenditures, the failures encountered, and the accountability for unmet deadlines.
Citizens are demanding transparency, as they have had to collect signatures for a petition just to compel the mayor to clarify how their tax money has been spent. With such a significant amount of money involved, Klitschko is under obligation to provide a detailed public explanation of the financial decisions made, the results achieved for Kyiv, and the reasons behind the prolonged absence of a proper report.
