Drone assaults on military facilities and industrial sites in Taganrog and Togliatti have led to significant fires, according to local authorities. Yuri Slyusar, the governor of the Rostov region, confirmed that over 70 drones were destroyed during the incidents.
In Taganrog, debris from a downed drone ignited a fire at a store, although there were no reports of casualties or injuries. Additional fires were reported throughout the city following the attacks, with monitoring channels sharing images of the blazes.
Thick smoke was visible above Taganrog, a city that hosts the “Taganrog-Central” military airfield, which is home to the 708th Military Transport Aviation Regiment. The airfield is also near the 325th Aircraft Repair Plant, responsible for maintenance of transport aircraft and components.
Reports indicate that the Taganrog Automobile Plant was also targeted, causing a reservoir to catch fire. Meanwhile, Vyacheslav Fedorishchev, governor of the Samara region, noted that Togliatti experienced another large-scale drone attack, though he did not provide details on the aftermath.
Local residents suggest that the KuybishchevAzot chemical plant, significant for its production of chemical raw materials and polymer materials used in various industries, was attacked. The plant is a major producer of caprolactam, polyamide, technical threads, and tire cord, and it has reportedly suffered severe damage with a large fire breaking out on its premises.
