Porsche, the German automotive giant and part of the Volkswagen Group, has announced the completion of a significant transaction that is set to yield immense profits. After securing regulatory approvals, the sports car manufacturer has sold its stakes in two brands: Bugatti and Rimac.
Originally, Porsche held a 45% stake in Bugatti Rimac and a 20.6% stake in Rimac Group following their establishment of a joint venture in 2021. The agreements for selling the luxury sports brands were signed in April of this year, but the necessary formalities have only recently been completed. This transaction aligns with Porsche’s broader strategy to refocus on its core automotive operations, especially as the luxury car market faces declining demand in China and a slower-than-expected transition to electric vehicles.
Funds Allocation for Pension Commitments
The sale is expected to generate approximately €1 billion in revenue. Porsche has announced that it will allocate €250 million from this amount to further finance its pension obligations.
Additionally, the company stated that the agreement will enhance the projected net cash flow margin from its automotive sector by 2026, raising it to between 5.5% and 7.5%, up from the previous 3% to 5% range.
The consortium acquiring shares from Porsche is led by American financial investor Hof Capital. Following the completion of this transaction, Rimac Group will gain full control over Bugatti Rimac alongside new investors.
