Ukrainian Government Removes Nikolai Hladyshenko from Sense Bank Board

The Ukrainian government has officially terminated Nikolai Hladyshenko’s position as the head of the supervisory board at Sense Bank. This decision was announced by Korentsky, who also noted that, at the suggestion of the Ministry of Finance, a state representative has been appointed to the supervisory board to expedite the formation of a quorum for the bank’s management structures.
Furthermore, Korentsky emphasized the necessity for the Ministry of Finance, along with the National Bank of Ukraine, to ensure effective corporate governance at Sense Bank and to prepare it adequately for potential sale.
Hladyshenko was removed from his position on August 19. The following day, National Bank of Ukraine Chairman Andriy Pyshny informed that the bank’s supervisory and regulatory committee had determined that Hladyshenko did not meet the established legal criteria for independence.
Background
- On August 19, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) announced a joint special operation with the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP) to uncover a criminal organization reportedly led by current and former members of the Ukrainian parliament, along with officials from the President’s Office. This operation has been dubbed “Forest Gump.”
- According to law enforcement officials, the group facilitated the laundering of 150 million UAH obtained through criminal means, utilizing AТ Sense Bank and the accounts of associated enterprises for this scheme. NABU also released audio recordings involving the deputy head of the President’s Office concerning Sense Bank and its alleged protection.
