Mark Zuckerberg Acquires Historic 19th Century Gothic Castle in Ireland

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, has purchased a Gothic castle dating back to the 19th century, situated along a river in southeast Ireland, approximately 200 kilometers (125 miles) from the European headquarters of his company, a spokesperson announced on Thursday, as reported by Reuters.
The castle, known as Strancally, was built around 1830 and overlooks the Blackwater River. It underwent significant renovations in 2003, according to a state architectural archive.
This transaction does not appear in Ireland’s property price register.
The Irish Times, which first reported on the acquisition, estimates the property’s value to be between €20 million and €30 million.
Zuckerberg’s spokesperson stated that he and his family are “excited to continue taking care of this historic residence and look forward to spending time in Ireland.”
Meta employs around 1,500 people in Ireland, where many American technology multinationals have established their European headquarters, partly due to the country’s favorable tax regime.
