A tragic bus accident involving a Polish vehicle occurred on the M3 motorway in Hungary, resulting in the deaths of 12 individuals and injuries to at least 20 others. The bus, belonging to the transport company “Michael,” was carrying 59 passengers, all of whom were Polish tourists.
The Hungarian police report that the incident likely occurred due to driver fatigue, with the bus veering off the road in the early hours of August 16. Tadeusz Dykas, the owner of the company, confirmed the bus was operated by two experienced drivers and expressed his sorrow regarding the incident.
Among the injured, seven passengers are reported to be in serious condition, while the others sustained minor injuries. All passengers were returning from Medjugorje.
Dykas emphasized that both drivers survived the crash. The bus company, registered in Osiek Jasielskim, Poland, has been in operation since 2007, offering both domestic and international transport services.
The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation. Dykas also noted the company has been in business for 28 years, despite official records indicating a start in 2007.
The company “Michael” is recognized as a transport provider within the Jasło district’s public transportation documentation.
