A Russian missile attack has led to a partial halt of operations at ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, one of Ukraine’s largest steel production facilities. Thirteen employees from the company and its subcontractors suffered injuries, and unfortunately, one individual has been confirmed dead. Rescue and recovery efforts are currently underway.
As of 10:16 AM, authorities reported the discovery of an additional casualty as a result of the strike. The company indicated that key production facilities related to energy and blast furnace operations were damaged, prompting a suspension of some manufacturing processes. Experts are now assessing the extent of the damage and evaluating the timeline for restoring operations.
ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih emphasized its status as a civilian entity within the mining and metallurgical industry, recalling a previous devastating missile strike in 2022 that resulted in significant destruction of the rolling shop and the loss of a worker’s life.
According to Serhiy Hanzha, the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Military Administration, earlier reports indicated that two individuals had died and 14 others were injured in the attack, with 11 requiring hospitalization. One of the injured, a 48-year-old man, is in critical condition.
ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih is noted for being the largest mining and metallurgical enterprise in Ukraine, employing over 20,000 people, as highlighted in previous statements by the company.
