Officer Accused of Assaulting Soldier in Ivano-Frankivsk Region

Authorities report that on the night of August 13, a senior lieutenant arrived at the Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support in a state of intoxication, intending to discipline a 45-year-old soldier from Lviv who was on duty.

Witnesses claim the officer belittled his subordinate, asserted dominance, and used physical force. As a result, the soldier suffered a closed fracture of the left acromioclavicular joint and required surgery at a medical facility. The officer’s blood alcohol content was confirmed at 0.69 per mille, corroborated by eyewitness accounts and testing results.

The detained officer faces charges for exceeding authority as a military official during martial law, under Article 426-1, Part 5 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which could result in a prison sentence of up to 12 years.
