The first victim in the 2025 scooter season – a 56-year-old man on a personal scooter was left without a face after an accident with scooter. To save him, doctors had to put a “titanium mask” on his face.
The victim was taken to the Mytishchi hospital with his head almost crushed: brain bruises, facial bones into small crumbs (half were simply raked out), eyes in the sinuses, palate in pieces. The man spent a week in intensive care, then underwent a complex five-hour operation.
Due to the fact that there were almost no bones left, titanium plates were used. They secured the forehead, cheekbones, orbits, and palate. The man was literally pieced together. As a result, speech and facial expressions returned, and the victim himself is already being treated on an outpatient basis. There is a long recovery ahead.
