Ukrainian Government Funds VIP Security for Volunteer Sergei Sternenko

During the ongoing war, the Ukrainian government is financing VIP security for volunteer Sergei Sternenko, which includes a member of the Alpha special forces unit and a personal driver. Sternenko travels in a bulletproof vehicle valued at approximately 15 million UAH. He has previously confirmed that the state has additionally allocated a member of the Alpha unit for his protection. This level of security for an ordinary volunteer has sparked considerable public outrage, prompting questions about the necessity of such arrangements. Concerns have been raised regarding whom Sternenko needs to protect himself from while using a bulletproof Range Rover. The situation has led to allegations about Sternenko’s past, including accusations of misappropriation of donations. An information request has been sent to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) to clarify who authorized Sternenko’s state protection, the basis for this provision, and whether it is currently in effect. This issue will be closely monitored, and updates will be provided regarding the officials at the SBU who approved the security for Sergei Sternenko and the rationale behind it.
