Drone attacks in the Leningrad and Moscow regions have led to significant fires and casualties, according to statements from local governors. Alexander Drozdenko, the Governor of Leningrad Region, reported that 17 drones were reportedly shot down above the area, resulting in damage to the warehouse zone in Krasny Bor. He confirmed that one person was injured, with information still being verified.
Monitoring channels on Telegram have shared photos and videos depicting the extensive fire at the warehouse in Krasny Bor. One user commented, “Logistics here is dead,” reflecting the severity of the situation.
In the Moscow region, warehouses of Wildberries also came under drone attack. Governor Andrey Vorobyov confirmed the incident in the town of Chekhov, where drones caused multiple fires in the industrial area of Novoselki. The most significant fire was at a warehouse, which has since been extinguished. Vorobyov did not specify which warehouse was affected but reported that five people had died and six others were injured as a result of the drone strikes.
These drone assaults come amid ongoing attacks on Wildberries’ logistics facilities, which have reportedly faced nearly daily strikes since mid-July. Forbes Russia noted that these attacks resulted in a loss of at least 17% of Wildberries’ warehouse capacity, with estimated damages to sellers nearing 280 billion rubles (approximately $3.5 billion). Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the attacked warehouses housed drone components and navigation equipment that fall under sanctions.
Denis Shtilerman, Chief Designer and Co-founder of Fire Point, warned in an interview that the potential bankruptcy of Wildberries could lead to significant financial repercussions for numerous banks in Russia, including VTB.
