During the weekend, Donald Trump made waves on his Truth Social platform, sharing numerous posts primarily featuring AI-generated images, according to reports.
His latest series included a map depicting Venezuela draped in an American flag labeled “The 51st State,” and an illustration of Trump’s face superimposed over Greenland with the caption: “Hello, Greenland!”
While Trump frequently utilizes AI-generated visuals in his posts, one particular image ignited fury among music enthusiasts worldwide. In the illustration, Trump is portrayed as the King of Rock and Roll, wearing a jumpsuit reminiscent of the sequined costume Elvis Presley donned during his 1973 concert “Aloha from Hawaii.”
This isn’t the first time Trump has referenced Elvis; earlier this year, he controversially claimed to be greater than the “King” while offering to perform at the “Freedom 250” event at the Great American State Fair, after many artists withdrew.
The recent post quickly attracted a flood of negative comments from users. One user remarked that Trump’s portrayal as Elvis is “an insult to all who loved Elvis,” while another noted, “Trump keeps posting about how America was once a laughingstock, but now that he’s president, the country has never been more respected. As an Australian, I can confirm 100% that Donald Trump is a joke here.”
Another comment highlighted, “Unlike Trump, Elvis truly served our nation with honor, distinction, and rock and roll,” while another added, “Not only does he crave the spotlight, but he believes he is Elvis in his prime. His ego knows no bounds.”
Criticism escalated online, with one user stating: “The only thing Trump and Elvis have in common is their penchant for underage girls”—a reference to both the Epstein files and the fact that Elvis met his future wife, Priscilla Beaulieu, when she was just 14, while he was 24.
Over the years, Trump has invoked several iconic pop culture figures, including Superman, Hannibal Lecter, and Jedi. Each time, his cultural associations have sparked backlash, often angering original creators and fans alike, due to perceived disrespect or misunderstanding of the references, as noted by reports.
Another concern for some of Trump’s critics has been his repeated intentions to run for a third term, despite the 22nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution stating that “no person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.”
In a recent interview with “Real America’s Voice,” Trump expressed a desire to be the next president, a remark that coincides with a series of images he posted showing him wearing hats emblazoned with “Trump 2028.”
