Sergio Sobyanin’s Telegram Account Hijacked Amid Pro-Ukraine Posts

Telegram posts in support of Ukraine

Reports indicate that the Telegram account of Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin was hacked, resulting in a deluge of pro-Ukrainian messages appearing after 10 PM. Among the messages were phrases like “Glory to Ukraine,” and messages suggesting the mayor has not been active enough, with one user declaring, “Moscow will burn.”

A video shared by the channel Astra showcased the support for Ukraine that flooded Sobyanin’s blog, which is currently devoid of content. This account is one of the two official Telegram channels for Sobyanin, along with the public channel “Mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin.” The hacked channel, titled “Sergey Sobyanin. Personal Blog,” was directly linked on his official website.

The public channel “Humor of the Russian-Ukrainian War” also shared a screenshot of Sobyanin’s account, highlighting the unusual posts. Military blogger Colonel Anatoly Stefan (Shtefan) expressed admiration for the individuals behind these messages in his own Telegram channel.

According to the media outlet Meduza, the hacked posts included a fundraising link for drones aimed at supporting Ukrainian military efforts from the “Sternenko Community” fund. The archived version of the channel reportedly retains the fundraising post, available through the TgStat service.

Notably, a user on Threads, under the name real.demyanova, pointed out that this hack coincided with Sobyanin’s birthday, drawing attention to the timing of the incident.
