Peluza Sud Dinamo issued a poignant message via social media following a tragic accident involving a minibus transporting the club’s second team. This incident, termed the “minibus of horror,” occurred while the team was in training camp in Câmpulung.
The accident resulted in the death of 59-year-old team masseur Constantin Covaciu, with several others suffering injuries that required medical attention.
In their statement, the supporters raised alarm about the management’s negligence that they believe contributed to this tragedy, particularly criticizing how the leadership allowed players and staff to face such risks.
FCD SUD Responds to the Tragedy
Covaciu, affectionately known as “Gogu,” was a long-standing member of the club, and his loss has left a significant void among the Dinamo community. Peluza Sud Dinamo addressed the issue with an emotional message the day after the tragedy struck the club.
“Dinamo is once again in a critical situation where incompetence and carelessness in management have led the second team to its demise, literally! Perhaps amidst broadcasts and live discussions, the club’s leadership will find time to explain how it was possible for our staff and players to be exposed to such risks. Condolences to the Covaciu family and best wishes to the ‘dogs’ in distress! God rest you, Nea Gogu!” – message from FCD SUD
According to investigations conducted by the Câmpulung Traffic Police, the driver of the vehicle, an 83-year-old man from Câmpulung, lost control of the vehicle while descending a slope under yet-to-be-determined circumstances, leading to a collision with a tree.
The driver remains hospitalized at Floreasca Hospital in serious condition, having been intubated and placed on mechanical ventilation.
