Russian Ballistic Missile Attack Hits Five Districts in Kyiv

Trains on the green line pass the Lukiivska station without stopping

A recent missile attack in Kyiv has claimed one life and left 13 others injured. According to the State Emergency Service (DSNS), impacts and fires were reported across five districts of the capital, with the most severe situation occurring in the Shevchenkivskyi district.

In Shevchenkivskyi, firefighters worked to extinguish blazes in vehicles and a three-story building while conducting rescue operations. A deceased individual was found during the cleanup efforts. Meanwhile, in the Solomianskyi district, firefighters are battling a fire in an office building and have already extinguished flames in several residential and non-residential properties.

In the Sviatoshynskyi district, a fire on the roof of a private house has been controlled, with four residents rescued from danger. In the Desnianskyi district, firefighters localized fires at two different sites in non-residential buildings. The Dniprovskyi district also experienced fires affecting vehicles, a non-residential building, and a dormitory.

Emergency service units are currently on-site to manage the aftermath of the Russian attack. Significant damage was reported at the Lukiivska metro station, where the explosion has damaged the above-ground vestibule. Consequently, Kyiv Metro announced a temporary closure of the station.

“Trains on the green line are passing the Lukiivska station without stopping. Metro staff are addressing the aftermath to ensure the escalators and passenger systems operate safely. Updates on normal service resumption will be provided later,” the report stated.

Videos showing the destruction of an underground passage at Lukiivska were shared by Radio Svoboda. Fires have also erupted in the Bucha district of Kyiv Oblast, with warehouses and logistics facilities reported to be on fire.

The missile assault commenced around 1:20 a.m., with the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine declaring the threat ceased by 3:14 a.m. Monitoring reports suggest that Russian forces may have launched over 30 ballistic missiles targeting Kyiv.
